ASU Summer research program

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University offers summer opportunities for qualified students to gain engineering research experience at a top research university. Participants acquire an in-depth understanding of what it would be like to pursue a PhD degree through an 8-week summer research program. Research projects across a wide range of engineering fields are available. Students between the junior and senior years of their undergraduate degree and those pursuing Master's degrees who are considering pursuing a PhD will be given highest consideration. Participants work under the mentorship of research faculty and have opportunities to network with industry partners, other faculty and their peers through a variety of events and activities.

Eligibility

Either one of the following:
  • U. S. Citizen or permanent resident attending a university in the United States
  • U. S. Citizen or permanent resident attending a university OUTSIDE the United States
  • Non-U. S. Citizen attending a university in the United States (F1 visa status)
  • Non-U. S. Citizen attending a university OUTSIDE the United States
  • Non-U. S. Citizen attending a university in the United States (Online, No visa)
  • Non-U. S. Citizen working in the U.S. (F1 - STEM OPT visa status)
  • Not currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student
Tenure (Tentative): 19 May 2025 to 15 July 2025 (8 weeks)

  • Candidate need to choose one faculty and project given under them in form itself.
  • Candidate need to have  the following in one single document ( either PDF, DOC, DOCX,) : 
  • A resume/curriculum vitae
  • A copy of transcript (official/unofficial).
  • Research interest- A brief statement describing your interest in participating in SURI which may include your researchinterests, any relevant research, academic, or work experience, your goals and how SURI will help you achieve them (up to 500 words).
  • Documentation of English-language proficiency or enrollment in English medium of instruction

Selection Process

  • Candidate will be evaluated based on the the application and the research statement.
  • Following candidates will be given preference:
    • Third and Fouth year (Junior and Senior) undergraduates
    • Masters degrees students
    • Phd Students
