Tata innovation Fellowship 2025

Applications are invited for “Tata Innovation Fellowship”, a highly competitive scheme instituted by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. There are total of 10 vacancies for the same. The fellowship is open to Masters and PhD candidates of varied fields. 

Eligibility

  • Maximum Age limit: 55 years
  • The fellowship is co-terminus with the superannuation of fellow in his/her organization
  • Either:
    • PhD in either:
      • Life Sciences
      • Agriculture
      • Veterinary Science
    • Masters degree in either:
      • Medical Sciences
      • Engineering
      • Biotechnology
      • Related fields to above
  • The applicant must have outstanding contribution and publication in the specific area.
  • Applicant to have a regular position in a University/Organization/Institute and should be engaged in R&D.
  • Should have spended atleast 5 years in India.
  • The applicant will only get contigency fund in case they receive salary from international organization, however will get stipend as well as contigency fund in case the candidate is getting salary from home institute.
Tenure of fellowship: 3 years + 2 years (extendable)

How to apply

  • Candidate need to apply online through DBT ePromis Portal (link given in official notification)
  • Candidate need to select the host institution name from drop down list, and if host institute name is not there, then candidate need to submit it on the portal.
  • Candidate need to submit application performa and other requisite documents seperately with each file in PDF format and of 4MB maximum. 
  • For any queries, candidate may contact the spokeperson via email given in the official notification.

Selection Process

  • All candidates are required to keep original copy of documents submitted online in hand; in case of selection at the later stage, the same will be required to be submitted to Department of Biotechnology, GOI, New Delhi.
  • The progress of scheme awarded with the fellowship will be reviewed annually by the experts based on the report submitted by the awardee to DBT (no physical presentation).

Perks of Programs

  • Stipend: ₹25,000/- per month
  • Contigency fund: ₹10 lakh per annum.
