WAVES VFX Competition

The WAVES presents VFX competition for students and professionals to create a VFX video and win great prizes. The competition is open to students, amateurs, and professionals alike, who simply need to submit their VFX work to participate. Throughout the journey, contestants will benefit from masterclasses and mentorship, honing their skills in preparation for the Grand Finale at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in New Delhi in February 2025, where finalists will vie for the prestigious Best Student and Professional VFX Artist Award.

Eligibility

  • Candidate need to select his category which could be either
  • Student Category
    • Either
      • School Students
      • University Students
    • Participant need to submit a proof of enrollment
    • Only team of 2 is allowed 
  • Professional category
    • Open to working professionals in the VFX, animation, and filmmaking industries.
    • Freelancers, studio artists, and seasoned professionals are welcome.
    • Can also take part as a team

How to apply

  • Candidate need to select his category and select their zone based on their location.
  • A detailed description of Theme will be shared to registered participant via email upon registration.
  • Participants are invited to create visual effects sequences or short films that showcase superheroes tackling mundane tasks with humor and creativity. Think of superheroes helping out with household chores, daily commutes, or solving everyday problems in creative and humorous ways.
  • Only one submission per person is allowed.

Selection Process

  • Selected finalists must be present for the live contest based on their selected zone.
  • Then, they would participate in a 10-hour challenge to create a VFX reel using provided stock videos, 3D assets, and FX library.
  • The winner from each zone per category will be awarded a fully paid opportunity to compete in the Grand Finale at WAVES and also receive hampers.
  • Zonal winners will compete against the winners from the other zones at WAVES, In Delhi.
  • A 24-hour challenge across 2 days to create a VFX shot using a camera, green matte screen, 3D assets, and FX library.
  • The winner in each category will be crowned the Grand Champion and receive a cash prize along with exciting goodies.
