Call for research paper by IIM Ahmedabad

A sustainable and inclusive society must prioritize the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PwD), aligning with the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Technology has the potential to transform the lives of PwD by enabling greater independence, inclusion, and opportunities in education, employment, and social interactions. However, several challenges persist, including accessibility barriers, socioeconomic inequalities, and concerns related to ethics, algorithmic biases, and data privacy. There will be a conference for the same, with theme "Technology for Disabled Persons" hosted by Indian Institute of Ahmedabad, and thus call for research paper/ technology proposals are invited from the candidates, having expertise in the theme. Selected research papers will be presented during the conference and selected tech proposals (Products) will be demonstrated.

Eligibility 

  • A candidate needs to be affliated to an organization and could submit either:
    • Full Research Papers (max. 8,000 words)
    • Short Papers/Work-in-Progress (max. 4,000 words)
    • Poster Presentations
    • Product Demonstrations (focus on assistive technologies and innovations)
    • Practitioners’ papers or white papers
  • All the submissions must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
  • Submission may address, but are not limited to following areas:

    Ethics, Privacy and PolicyAddressing legal and ethical concerns, including data Privacy, algorithm bias, and the policy frameworks necessary for equitable tech use by PwD
    Social and cultural BarriersAddressing the non-technological challenges that limit the use and adoption of assistive technologies
    Case StudiesSuccessful implementations of tech solutions that have positively impacted PwD in various sectors, such as healthcare, education and transportation
Tenure of conference: 21-23 Febrauary 2025

Selection Process

All submissions will undergo peer review. 
Accepted submissions will be included in the conference proceedings.
Some research papers might be considered for publication in indexed journals or as part of a special issue.
Those selected for publishing will undergo paper development workshop (PDW).

  • Candidate should mention the authors’ names and affiliations clearly in the abstract below the title.
