Space experiental learning center club program

The Indo U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), in collaboration with Genex Space, is implementing the Space Experiential Learning Center (SELC), an initiative by the U.S. Department of State's Public Diplomacy Section in New Delhi. It aims to bridge the gap between traditional education and real-world applications in space science, providing students with the opportunity to delve deep into space exploration, astronomy, satellite technology, and STEM disciplines.This program is free to apply and will take place at American Centre based in New Delhi. A great opportunity for students as students will get mentorship from great scientists, get exposure on space and rocket building, satellite technology, sky observation sessions, and much more.

Eligibility

  • School Students of class 8 - 11th and should be aged between 15 and 18 years as of September 30, 2024 in Delhi-NCR Region.
  • Students should have secured at least 80% in both Math and Science subjects in their most recent academic year.
  • Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • This is a year long program, and students must commit to participating fully without dropping out midway.

How to apply

  • Submit online application by filling the form on direct apply.
  • Selected Candidates will have to take a Space Science and Technology Test online to be held on 2 Feb 2025.
  • There might be interview to ensure a good fit for program, however it might/might not take place.
  • Selected candidates have to produce NOC from their school.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be based on performance in application, test, and interview.
  • Selected candidates have to produce NOC from their school.
  • Only 60 studentes will be selected and they need not to have any fee for either applying or availing the program.

Details of Science and Technology (SST) Test

The SST Test is an online exam designed to assess the applicant’s understanding of space science, problem-solving skills, and aptitude for the program. The test is divided into three sections, each designed to evaluate different aspects of the candidate’s knowledge and skills.

Sections of the test

  • Section 1: Personal Details – Basic information about the candidate.
  • Section 2: Aptitude and Problem Solving – Questions that assess logical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and general problem-solving abilities.
  • Section 3: Space Sector Knowledge – Questions related to space news, recent advancements in the space sector, numericals, and reasoning problems specifically focused on space science.
The questions will primarily focus on the space sector and will test the candidate’s knowledge of recent developments, general space science concepts, and problem-solving abilities related to space exploration.

To prepare, students should familiarize themselves with recent advancements in space science and technology, review general aptitude problems, and practice space-related numericals and reasoning questions. Keeping up with space news and current events will also be beneficiary.
