Cern open lab student program 2025
This program is for students currently studying for a Bachelor or Master degree and have a strong IT profile who are looking for a practical training period during the European summer (June – August). During two full months corresponding to 9 weeks (June-August 2025), CERN openlab summer students will work on an advanced IT project and will be given a series of IT lectures specially prepared for them by experts at CERN and other institutes. The students also have the opportunity to attend the main CERN Summer student programme lectures, if they wish.

Eligibility

  • Any nationality
  • Remains student till the program complete
  • Graduating till 2025(as of May) are also eligibile to apply
  • Not worked with CERN before for any status for more than 3 months.
  • English Language 
  • Either:
    • Bachelor's student with a strong computing profile and will have completed, by summer 2025, at least three years of full-time studies in the field at university level (Fourth year student). 
    • Master's student with a strong computing profile and will have completed, by summer 2025, at least three years of full-time studies in the field at university level (Fourth year student). 

How to apply

  • Candidates need to clearly label their documents in English or French 
  • Candidate need to apply on CERN application portal by visiting it through direct apply link with following documents:
    • A CV 
    • A copy of your most recent official academic transcript (if you download it from your university portal please make sure there is no protection so that we can open it).
    • At least one reference letter (dated less than 12 months), preferably two.
  • Candidate need to upload all the documentsat time of application as any document cannot be added later.
  • Documents should be in PDF format.

Selection Process

  • Once candidate's application has been submitted, candidate will receive a confirmation e-mail.
  • Selected Candidate will be taking internship in person from June-August 2025.
