Innovate2Educate Competition

People passionate about toymaking and device designs are invited to create a prototype of an educational handheld device that makes learning math, solving puzzles, and enhancing cognitive skills an engaging and interactive experience. The goal is to design a device that is not only educational but also affordable for the mass market.

Theme

  • Education handheld device that:
    • Engages children in learning math
    • Encourages problem-solving through puzzle
    • Enhances cognitive skills with interactive content
    • Is affordable and accessible for broad audience

How to apply

  • Candidate can register via direct apply link and register for the competition
  • Then candidate can submit their intial concept from 08 Feb which includes
    • Sketches of the devices
    • Description of device
    • Key features of devices
  • Selected Candiates will move to prototype stage (03 March - 15 March) where they will create a working model of the device.
  • Then, finalist will present their prototypes from panel of judge showing functionality, educational impact, and market feasibility.
  • Candidate need to keep in the mind that their design meet following :
  • Educational Content : Incorporating fun and interactive ways to teach math and cognitive skills.
  • User Experience : Designing an intuitive and child-friendly interface.
  • Affordability : Ensuring the device is cost-effective and accessible to a wide audience.
  • Durability : Creating a robust design that can withstand everyday use by children.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisted teams will be notified till 03 March 2025 and prototype submission phase would open.
  • Selection will be based on following :
    • Innovation: Originality and creativity in device design and content.
    • Educational Value: Effectiveness in teaching math and enhancing cognitive skills.
    • User Experience: How engaging and user-friendly the device is for children.
    • Cost-effectiveness: Feasibility of producing the device at an affordable price.
    • Durability and Design: Practicality and robustness of the design.

Guidelines for designing the device

  • Device cost should not exceed ₹1000/-
  • The device must not use LED or LCD screens typically found in mobile devices. Alternative display technologies or creative display solutions should be used.
  • The device should be handheld and easily portable. Diagonal size must not be more than 7-8 inches.
  • Consider using cost-effective and easily available power sources, such as AA batteries or rechargeable batteries.

Prizes

  • Cash Prizes: Awarded to the top three designs.:
    • 1st: ₹50,000/-
    • 2nd: ₹30,000/-
    • 3rd: ₹10,000/-
  • Special Mentions in following categories
    • Best Design
    • Most innovative concept
    • Best User Experience
  • Prototype Development Support: Assistance in refining and producing the winning prototype.
  • Showcase Opportunity: The winning design will be featured at key IDGS events and showcased to potential investors and manufacturers.
