The Research Fellowship Programme is aimed at PhD holders in the fields of experimental physics. Research Fellowships are intended for PhD graduates looking to work in a research group.
It is a programme and not a specific job and if selected, candidate will have a free choice of research group.

Eligibility

  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • A limited number of positions are also available to candidates from Non-Member State
  • Fields related to experimental physics
  • Either:
    • PhD holder
    • About to hold Phd within 6 months after 03 March
    • Get PhD when appointed at CERN.
  • Experience: Maximum 6 years after PhD
Tenure of fellowship : 2 years + 1 year (extendable)

  • Candidates can check about their nation membership with yourfellows's CERN Checker.
  • Candidate need to submit online application with following:
    • A CV
    • Most recent relevant qualification
    • A statement of research interest focusing on your plans for the research fellowship (maximum one page or 4000 characters)
    • Three recent letters of recommendation (not older than 1 year)
    • A letter of motivation (not mandatory)
    • List of upto 5 most important publications
    • List of upto 5 international conferences or workshops at which candidate has given presentations
    • List of upto 5 public or internal notes to which candidates have controbuted personally.
    • List of upto 3 experiments in which candidate have participated.

Selection Process

  • The results will be approved till the end of May 2025, and then candidates will be notified after shortly.
  • It is expected that selected candidates start their contract within about six months following the notification.

Perks

  • Stipend: 6808 to 7218 swiss francs (($ 7473 to $7923) {₹6.5 lakh to 6.9 lakh}) per month
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva.
  • 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
