Call for application of Senior Research fellow at CSIR - Stipend around ₹45,000/- per month
The CSIR HRDG invites application for the SRF positions from eligibile candidates. The Human Resource Development (HRD) Group of COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIA RESEARCH (CSIR), New Delhi, provides opportunities to bright young men and women in the form of direct Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) for training in methods of research under the expert guidance of faculty members/scientists working in universities, laboratories and institutes of Government Departments and recognised laboratories of industry in various fields of science and technology. There are special instruction in regard to topics for 3 domains namely Environmental Sciences (ENVIRON/32), Science & Technology Studies (STS/71) and Trans-disciplinary (TDR/81).
Not eligible:
- Those who have been awarded PhD/MD/MS/MDS degrees or have submitted their thesis for the award of PhD/MD/MS/MDS degrees are not eligible for the position of SRF.
- Those who are eligible for RA will not be considered for SRF.
- Those who have already applied three times in past and have not been called or selected need not apply
- Simultaneous employment elsewhere is not permitted during fellowship.
- If tenure of JRF and SRF exceeds in total of 5 years for the candidate.
- Those who have already availed, or would have availed by 31st December 2024, JRF for 5 years or SRF for 3 years from any source need not apply.
Eligibility:
- Maximum 32 years of age with relaxation of 3 years to OBC-NCL candidates and 5 years for SC/ST/Physically.
- Either one of the following
- MSc/BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree (at least 55% Marks) with one publication in SCI Journal and atleast two years post-MSc/BE/B. Tech reasearch experience.
- M.tech/ME or equivalent degree (atleast 60% marks)
- BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree (at least 60% marks) with two years of research experience.
- MBBS/BDS (at least 60% marks) and one-year internship
- BPharm/BVSc/BSc (Ag) or equivalent degree (at least 55% marks) and one publication in SCI Journal and at least three years of research experience.
- MPharm/MVSc/MSc (Ag)/MPhil or equivalent degree (at least 55% marks) and one publication in SCI Journal and one year research experience as on the last date of application, evidenced from fellowship/associateship or from date of registration for PhD
- Those who have held or are holding equivalent fellowships awarded under various schemes of all India grant-giving agencies such as DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICAR, etc., may apply subject to the condition that the total tenure inclusive of CSIR fellowship shall not exceed three years.
- Those who are already holding equivalent fellowship should specify the reason for applying. The application is likely to be rejected if the reason is not specified.
How to apply
- Keep all the specified documents ready and then apply.
- Candidates need to apply online only and need to register themselves before applying online.
- Once the application form is filled up, please save/submit it within 40 minutes; otherwise, your session will expire, and you will need to re-login.
- A candidate can apply in only one subject code. The code number of the subject should be carefully selected and indicated against the appropriate column. It should be directly related to past education, experience, and future area of study.
- Identification of irrelevant code or code not matching the proposed research topic may lead to the rejection of the application. No change of code would be permitted after submission of the online application.
- Details from the time of obtaining the qualifying degree till the last date of application should be mentioned clearly in column 19 of the application form. An unaccounted period, if any, may lead to rejection.
- No testimonial will be accepted as proof of research experience.
- Candidates should be prepared to produce an original certificate, PhD registration, research experience (office orders), reprints & letter(s) of acceptance about papers under publication, NET, and GATE certificate at the time of interview and later when required.
- There is no format available for the research proposal. The proposal should be brief and self-explainable in approx. 1000 words.
- Thesis submission documents shall be issued by the registrar/dean/section officer or any other administrative person responsible for it. Documents issued by guide/supervisor/HOD shall not be accepted and will lead to application rejection.
Stipend: ₹42,000/- per month with ₹20,000/- per annum grant

Selection Process
- Selection will be made through interviews of candidates short-listed based on their academic records, experience, research publications, and assessment of proposed research work by discipline-wise high-level expert committees.
- The SC/ST candidates called for interview will be paid single second-class rail/bus fare to and fro by the shortest route from the station mentioned in the address for correspondence given in the online application form, from (within India) to the place of interview on production of documentary proof as per rule inforce.

- It is a free to apply opportunity.
- An OTP is generated within gap of 30 minutes and check spam folder also for OTP.
- A single email id is used for single candidate only.
- Details of candidate can only be chaged before final submission of application and once submitted, details can't be changed.
- There is no family income criteria for applying for this opportunity.
- Fellow cannot avail any other fellowship from any private/government institute during the term of fellowship.
- Request for transfer of Associateship will not be entertained except on compelling circumstances for which the associate & his/her guide should submit proper justification.A SRF-Direct on the recommendation of Guide, and provided that his/her University/ Institute has no objection, may be permitted by CSIR to take up a temporary paid lectureship/research job in a recognized R&D Institution/University.
- Testimonial is not a mandatory document; candidate may upload it if you have.
- The research supervisor should not be a relative or a blood relative.
- The SRF-Direct/Research Associate is not to take any assignment other than related to his/her approved research programme, paid or unpaid. However, if required, the SRF-Direct/ Research Associate may assist the host institute in its academic work provided such assignments should not hamper the progress of the research work of the research fellow/associate.

- Students of Central/State/Deemed/Private Universities and postgraduate colleges recognized by the University Grants Commission, Institutes of National Importance and R&D institutions recognized by the Government of India, and Institutes of CSIR in various fields of Science & Technology and Medical Sciences are eligible to apply.
