TIFR Summer Student Research Program

TIFR Centre for Applicable Mathematics, Bengaluru invites application for the internship opportunity from students of various streams. The aim of this internship is to expose the student to an academic research experience and for the student to work towards problems of importance. The students are expected to have the ability to work independently and to have a strong desire to be problem solvers.

Eligibility

  • Either:
    • Bachelor's Students
    • Master's Student
  • Either:
    • Mathematics
    • Science 
    • Engineering 

Tenure of fellowship: 15 May 2025 to 31 July 2025

How to apply

  • Candidate need to apply online and arrange one referee (teacher or academic advisor) to send one letter of reference by email ssrp@tifrbng.res.in on or before 20 March 2025.
  • Candidate can intern for minimum one month to maximum two month.
  • Also, candidate need to latex (send) the solution of the following problems to nishant@tifrbng.res.in :
    • Problem #1) Let there be n open brackets and n closed brackets. They are arranged in a sequence such that anywhere in the sequence, the number of open brackets preceding it should be greater than the closed brackets. Calculate the total number of configurations possible and give a complete proof
    • Problem #2) Classify groups of order 30.

Selection Process

  • Selected candidates will be annouced by 25 March 2025.
  • Intern have to make a presentation and write a report on their work after completion of internship

  • Stipend: ₹9000/- per month
  • Sleeper Class (Non AC) Train fare from institute to TIFR-CAM and TIFR-CAM to candidate's institute.
  • Canteen food at nominal price.
